The Rajasthan Basic School Teaching Course (BSTC) exam, officially known as the Pre-D.El.Ed. Examination, is conducted annually to select candidates for diploma courses in elementary education. This exam serves as the first step for individuals aspiring to become teachers in Rajasthan’s primary schools, emphasizing a strong foundation in teaching methodologies and child development.

Purpose of the BSTC Exam

The BSTC exam is designed to assess candidates’ aptitude for teaching and their understanding of key subjects essential for elementary education. Clearing this exam allows candidates to enroll in a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) course, which prepares them to teach at the primary level (Class 1 to Class 5).

Eligibility Criteria

To appear for the BSTC exam, candidates must fulfil the following requirements:

1. Educational Qualification:
   • Must have passed the 12th standard (Senior Secondary) from a recognized board with a minimum aggregate:
     • General category: 50%
     • SC/ST/OBC and other reserved categories: 45%
2. Age Limit:
   • The upper age limit is typically 28 years, with relaxations provided for reserved categories as per government norms.
