The IBPS PO examination is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection to recruit Probationary Officers for various public sector banks in India. The role of a Probationary Officer is that of a management trainee, where the selected candidate undergoes rigorous training to understand banking operations and is groomed for managerial roles.

Responsibilities of an IBPS PO

An IBPS PO is a versatile role that involves numerous responsibilities, including:

  • Customer Relationship Management: Addressing customer queries and resolving issues related to banking services.
  • Loan Processing and Credit Management: Evaluating loan applications and ensuring compliance with banking regulations.

Selection Process

The IBPS PO selection process is conducted in three stages:

1. Preliminary Examination

  • A qualifying test with sections on English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability.
  • Duration: 1 hour.
  • Mode: Online.

2. Main Examination

  • A more comprehensive test covering Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, and Computer Knowledge.
  • Includes a descriptive test (essay and letter writing).
  • Duration: 3.5 hours.

3. Interview

Conducted by a panel to assess the candidate’s communication skills, personality, and suitability for the role.
